The Paquet family moved from Canada to central Maine when Jeanne Paquet, the founder and owner of JM Paquet, was 4 years old. Jeanne's mother was a self-taught seamstress and gifted tailor who used her talents to create a distinctive décor for their home as well as unique one-of-a-kind clothing. Jeanne's father, a lumberjack by trade, built the house they lived in and the furniture they used. His nuts-and-bolts interpretation of furniture making was based on comfort and use, which is today the cornerstone of the philosophy at JM Paquet, Inc., established in 1989.

In the early years, JM Paquet operated as a custom upholstery shop. From 1989 - 1995 exclusive furniture designs in a variety of scales and seating were created for the worldly entertainment industry in Los Angeles. Jeanne's love of vintage fabrics, and her ability to use these timeless fabrics to create unique one-of-a-kind pillows, slipcovers and upholstered furniture created a niche for her company. By word of mouth, the business grew. In 1996, Jeanne expanded her style of comfortable, gentle informality through the use of new fabrics and with the archive of her furniture designs introduced the Signature Collection of furniture.

Today, JM Paquet continues to flourish in a 30,000 sq. ft. facility near downtown Los Angeles. While maintaining high standards of workmanship and using first-rate materials, each piece receives the personal attention and expert tailoring for which JM Paquet is known. JM Paquet's unparalleled dedication to quality is a result of the company's strong sense of family with its long-term employees, some of whom have been with the company for a decade.
